Microneedling- with and without PRP

Dr. Michael Horn Center

A lot of people were asking questions about microneedling with PRP… aka ‘vampire facial’. I decided to not only do a blog about it to answer those questions buuuuuuut the office has decided to include this into the package of facials that will be discounted at my event on August 23rd! 35% off! Whaaaat?!?! Lucky for you guys, I know a guy that works there 😉. Don’t forget to RSVP! Can’t wait!

Below are step by step pictures of the entire process, including the PRP (platelet rich plasma) part. I am SO excited to share this treatment with you all because it is definitely my favorite! ❤️

First off, lets start with the basics… what is microneedling? Over the years the technology used for this treatment has come a long way. Currently, a small pen, with roughly a dozen tiny needles inside, is used to create small punctures or “injury” into the skin. This process then triggers the wound healing factors that promote regenerative effects. Don’t worry… you are completely numb and feel nothing. The day the treatment is done your skin is immediately plump and tight. Basically a quick little in office  face lift. Its my favorite day! However, the swelling or “plumpness” goes down (unfortunately) BUT …permanent results will be seen in 4-8weeks!

Secondly, what are the benefits and/or key reasons for having microneedling done? This particular treatment is great for acne scars, age or sun spots, uneven skin tones, large pores and to decrease fine lines and wrinkles.

Now lets chat PRP. Why add it? Whats the point? Well, once the tiny little needle punctures have been made they add PRP in which basically SUPER boosts the natural healing process and ups the creation of collagen in your face. The microneedling helps get the PRP deeper so that collagen production can start at deeper levels for longer lasting results. Collagen, if you aren’t aware, is your skins best friend. Ever. It gives our skin strength and elasticity. In summary, it makes our skin look good and young. Give me all the collagen!!!! Also, you will notice from the photos that PRP can be directly injected by a nurse at the time of your facial. I usually have it done in my smile lines and my under eyes (helps with dark circles). *SECRET PRO TIP SHARING*

To reiterate you are nice and numb before anything starts so you don’t feel much. Some parts, around my eyebrows and hairline, are still slightly sensitive but I would never say any part of it is painful. I attached a photo of directly after the treatment to show that I am usually slightly red and patchy. Nothing too crazy but I try to not have plans the same day. The next day your skin will be plump and tight. No complaints here but sometimes people don’t like the “swelling”. It goes down next day if you have any. In summary… I love this facial and I love collagen.

  1. Its like you read my mind! You appear to know so much about this, such as you wrote the e book in it or something.
I feel that you simply can do with some percent to drive the
message home a bit, however instead of that, that is wonderful
blog. A great read. I’ll certainly be back.
