Let me start off by saying I am sitting writing this on the airplane and cannot wait to get home to my deliciously chubby baby. Does being away ever get any easier? I will say I feel like a little trip like this makes me a better mom… in the sense that I look forward to those ‘non productive days’ where I just sit in with my sweet boy. A fonder appreciation of those lazy days home.

Lets get down to it…. New York Fashion Week! When I was presented with the idea of attending NYFW I was beyond excited and then immediately found myself trying to think of good reasons not to go. I think I had a lot of weird emotions about leaving the baby (#momguilt) and/or I had it in my head I wasn’t worthy (haha) …but really. I was very intimidated at the idea and thought I should just skip it and stay in my safe zone… aka my living room. However, I can confidently say that I am so glad I went and was fortunate to have this amazing experience. Attending shows, seeing the street style, meeting some of my all time favorite bloggers in person, and overall just having a great time with a great friend was just what I was hoping for -and got!

You can look at certain situations two different ways and I am choosing to look at the entire weekend as nothing but amazing. The weather sucked, especially towards the end, I wasn’t invited to some of the awesome events and shows my friend was attending, I walked so far and for so long in heels I think I’ll never regain proper feeling in my legs, I think I spent half the trip in cabs sitting in traffic BUT at the end of the day I spent the weekend in New York City during fashion week and I loved it!

During my short stent I’ve been a blogger I have QUICKLY learned to truly admire the hard work and dedication it takes to do this. When I was first starting my thought process was very simple… “I sometimes wear nice things, I have a cute kid, I travel and love food. I should snap some pictures and become famous.” Well let me tell you, it definitely doesn’t work like that. Its a full-time gig that requires almost a certain art form.

Since my blog is more lifestyle and not purely fashion, and with us trying to have more kiddos soon (ish), I am not sure if I will have the opportunity anytime soon, to go back for fashion week or not but the feeling of sitting and watching a runway show is a memory I will always have and love.

My advice to anyone toying with the idea of attending next year:

-Just go… if you are thinking about it at all and have the means/time then just take the opportunity and go!

-Style wise stay true to you. Wear what you’re confident in. And for the love of god wear comfortable shoes.

-Be flexible… The traffic, timing of the shows and chaos of the city will have you panicked if you try to over schedule.

-Soak it in… I found myself during the first show so into my phone and making sure I had good videos and photos that I wasn’t really soaking it in and enjoying the moment.

-Be you… I found myself standing at the Reward Style Roof Top event, surrounded by all the big time bloggers I follow, and literally forgot how to speak and be a normal person that contributes to society. #FanGirl

Hotel & Restaurant Details/Recommendations:

We stayed at Hotel 50 Bowery and loved it! Its located in China town and has gorgeous views of the city from the rooftop bar. The room was spacious (for New York lol) and had adorable decor!

From our hotel we walked to a local dim sum restaurant for brunch on Sunday, called Dim Sum Go Go, and it was delicious!

Also, within walking distance from out hotel was a cute little Mexican place that I met a friend from high school at for drinks. Its called Pulqueria and is a small, but adorable, authentic Mexican hotspot.

Dinner one night was at EN Japanese Brasserie which was OUTSTANDING if you enjoy amazing sushi.

The reward style event was held at the Bowery Hotel so we had dinner at the attached restaurant, Gemma, afterwards. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was great and I saw Kate Walsh (team McDreamy).
